Lifelong Goodland, KS resident Donald Kenneth Schwendener, 96, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the Sheridan County Hospital in Hoxie, KS.
He was born on February 27, 1923 in Abilene, KS to Edward F. and Estella (Sherwood) Schwendener. He was one of five children. He attended school in Goodland and graduated from Sherman County Community High School in 1941.
On October 1, 1944, Don married Elaine Rhoads in Goodland. To this union, two daughters Janice and Donna were born.
Don was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Goodland United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Goodland Elks Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Elaine, three sisters; Esther Malstrom, Vida Moses and Ruth Kreuzer.
He is survived by his two daughters Janice Nemechek and Donna Hall both of Goodland, KS, one sister Verda Simms of Easton, PA, three grandchildren; Curtis (Julie) Nemechek of Holcomb, KS, Rhonda (Dean) McIntosh of Amarillo, TX and Janet (Dustin) Downie of Manhattan, KS. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; Dane (Miriam) McIntosh, Dayton McIntosh, Aubrey Downie, Nash Downie, Christopher Nemechek and Courtney Nemechek.
