Donald Duane Gilbert

Donald (Don) Duane Gilbert passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023.  He was born in Goodland, Kansas on May 2, 1942 to Marvin and Naomi (McClung) Gilbert.  

He grew up on a farm south of Kanorado.  He was a1960 Burlington High School graduate.  After High School, he graduated from the Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Technical School Drafting Program.  On August 9, 1964 he married Judy Peters. They had two daughters, Donita and Darcy. He worked on the family farm while attending Drafting School.

The family moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for a short time before settling in Castle Rock, Colorado.  He eventually opened his own drafting business in Franktown, Colorado, where he worked for many years designing custom homes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy, daughter Darcy and grandson Matthew.  He is survived by his brother Dan and his daughter Donita, 2 granddaughters Ashley and Teighlor as well as one great grandson Bryson.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Castle Rock and a member of the Franktown Colorado Chamber of Commerce.  He enjoyed bowling league, stock car racing, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:30am at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS.
