Dawson Ross Hogan, 20, tragically passed away on March 14, 2025, as a result of an automobile accident on I-70. He was on his way home from college to spend spring break with his family.
Dawson was born on December 10, 2004, in Salina, KS, to Dana Bonilla Hogan and Steve Hogan. He and his siblings were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the Wednesday evening’s “Seeds of Faith” youth group activities.
Dawson graduated from Salina Central High in 2023. He was team captain on the wrestling team. He qualified for State three times and was a State Finalist. He received the All-State Honorable Mention; he also played on the football team, where he was a two-time Letter winner. He received the AVCTL All-League Honorable Mention as a Linebacker his senior year. Dawson excelled in academics and was on the honor roll.
Dawson attended FT. Hays Northwest Tech in Goodland, KS, where he was studying to be an electrician. He excelled academically, recently earning an Academic All-American Award. He was also nominated for the National Technical Honor Society. Dawson was a member of the Northwest Tech wrestling team for two years.
He absolutely loved his college life and his friends, old and new and had developed a strong bond with his wrestling family.
His siblings describe his as “loving, compassionate, humble, responsible, protective, empathetic, and the glue that held the family together.”
Dawson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara Hill, Dennis Hogan, Darrell Lemon, Beth and Fortino Bonilla; great grandparents, Helen and Floyd Cobb, Norberta and Fortunato Bonilla, Virginia and Charles Musser, Mary and Frank Hogan; stepfather Rocko Talley; and many aunts and uncles.
Dawson is survived by his parents Dana and Steve Hogan, grandmothers Connie Hogan and Mary Lemon; Siblings Sidney Hogan, Jasmine and Selena Merrell, Dakota and Chance Hogan, Braxton and Kenzie Talley, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
