Longtime Sherman County, Kansas resident, Dale K. Cloyd, 95, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Wallace County Community Care Center in Sharon Springs, KS.
Dale was born on March 1, 1926 in Haviland, KS to Lola M. (Ellis) and Van W. Cloyd. He graduated from Weskan High School in 1944. He was drafted by the U.S. Army in December of 1944, and served a total of 2 years at Ft. Hood, TX, Ft. Campbell, KY and Ft Benning, GA.
He married Ethelyn Jones on September 4, 1948 in Taos, New Mexico. They made a home in Wallace County until the drought of the 1950’s. Moves were made from the farm to Sharon Springs, KS, Lawrence, KS, St. Louis, MO, Climax, CO, Derby, CO and back to farming near Kanorado, KS in 1960. He resided in Goodland from 1987 to 2021. He loved farming and continued in that endeavor until 2014. He was a member of the Kanorado United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife Ethelyn, his parents; 4 sisters Betty Harris, Gladys Miller, Velma Stephens and Bunola Hill; 2 brothers Harold and Phillip Cloyd, and a granddaughter Samantha Branson.
He is survived by his daughter Dennice Farr and her husband CT of Weskan, KS, son Darrel Cloyd and his wife Becky of Colwich, KS; a brother Van W (Bill) and his wife Laura Cloyd of Sharon Springs, KS; a sister Marvel Armstrong of Wichita, KS; 5 grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
