Longtime Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Daisy Fay Robben, 83, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at Wallace County Community Care Center in Sharon Springs.
She was born March 8, 1932, in the Township of Grinnell, County of Gove, in Kansas, the daughter of Maysel D. (Johnstone) and Marl S. Bloom. She began her grade school years in Oakley, then continued at Thomas County Rural Public School, and graduated from Oakley High School. She also graduated from Central Business College in Denver, Colorado.
On November 18, 1950, she and Joseph Otto Robben were married at the Catholic Cathedral Rectory in Denver, Colorado, and they made their home in Oakley. In 1952, they moved to Sharon Springs. She was a loving wife and mother, and also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. Her memberships included Holy Ghost Catholic Church and Altar Society, Mother’s Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Preceding her in death were son Christie Joe Robben; parents; sisters Clara, Helen, Mary, Mamie; brother John; and sons-in-law Glenn Unruh and Ty Kallsen.
Surviving family includes her husband Joe Robben of Sharon Springs; children Penny Bussen and her husband Jim of Wallace; Trudy Unruh of Sharon Springs; Stanley Robben and his wife Rita of Sharon Springs; Randy Robben and his wife Tammy of Sharon Springs; Bradley Robben of North Platte, Nebraska; Tracy Robben of Sharon Springs; Joy Boyington and her husband Eldon of Goodland; Rodney Robben and his wife Tamara of Sharon Springs; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Twila Bee Marion of Phoenix, Arizona; and brother James Bloom of Ottumwa, Iowa.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 8, 10:00 AM MT, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Sharon Springs, with Father Norbert Dlabal presiding. Burial will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects on Monday, September 7, at 4:00 until 5:00 PM MT, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Sharon Springs. Vigil and rosary will follow at 5:00 PM MT.
Memorials may be designated to the Daisy Fay Robben Memorial, and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
