Connie Adair Korbelik, 82, passed away at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with COPD for many years.
She was born on May 14, 1942, to James Andrew (Andy) and Lelah Ilene (Hawks) Still in Goodland, Kansas. Connie attended elementary school in California, middle school in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1960, while living with her grandparents R.A. and Freda Still.
In 1960, Connie’s best friend, Pat, introduced her to the love of her life, Harvey Korbelik, who just happened to be Pat’s brother. They were married on October 29, 1960, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, Kansas.
They were blessed with the birth of Susan Marie in October 1961, William (Bill) Lee in April 1965, Sharon Laree in March 1967, Baby Boy (Lucas) in March 1970, and David (Dave) Dean in November 1972.
Connie enjoyed being a farmwife for 63 years while having worked selling AVON in the early years of their marriage and at the Comfort Inn for a time enjoying meeting new people and helping others in both jobs. She dedicated many years of service to Kit Carson County serving as an election judge from the time of precinct locations to being the one of the supervisor election judges when the Burlington precincts were combined into one location. Connie took great pride in making sure that the Republican Party fair booth was put up at the fair for many years as well.
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church benefited from Connie’s eagerness to continue learning about her faith and sharing it through religious education classes or CCD classes including the First Reconciliation and Communion preparation for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society also. Being a 4-H leader for over 20 years, Connie gave to the community by helping as the Green Valley 4-H Club clothing leader and at the county fair as a superintendent.
Connie’s favorite hobbies were gardening and sewing. Many hours were spent tending to the yard and her flower beds; her Shasta Daisies that spread all over the homestead were a beautiful site. Homemade décor, quillows, and baby quilts for the grandchildren, while she was able, were sewn with love.
Connie is survived by her children Susan (Russell) Corliss, Bill (Theresa) Korbelik all of Burlington and Dave (Yvette) Korbelik of Atchison, Kansas.
Her grandchildren, Sandra (John) Gustafson, Dustin Corliss, Clayton Corliss, Flint (Shannah) Corliss, Brooke (Brice) Miller, Justin (Shannon) Korbelik, Rochelle (Carson) Konrade, Kaylee (Damien) Pottinger, Mikayla Boyce, Steven Korbelik, Whitney (Ethan) Smith, Sarenna (Mathew) Burton, Kolbran Korbelik, Bohdan Korbelik, Aidrek Korbelik, Creed Korbelik; 13 great grandchildren and two due this summer; her brother Roger Chipps of Greeley, Colorado, sister-in-law Patricia Allaman of Goodland, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Harvey her husband of 63 years, her children Sharon and Baby Boy (Lucas), her parents Andy Still and Lelah Schweitzer, brothers Jerry Still and James Still, sisters-in-law Janis Still and Vernetta Ann Mallet, brother-in-law James Allaman.
