Clifford Paulson

Former Goodland, Kansas resident Clifford F. Paulson, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Sheridan County Hospital Long Term Care Facility in Hoxie, Kansas, where he had been a resident for the last six years.

He was born on September 16, 1921, at Yuma, Kansas, the son of Mary Adelia (Jones) and Arvig Arthur Paulson.  He graduated from Woodston High School.  He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force from September 1, 1942, through December 21, 1945, during World War II.  He was stationed at an Air Force base in Debden, England, for more than three years.

On December 25, 1942, he and Marjorie Ardena Clements were married, and made their home in Kensington, Kansas.  In 1966, they moved to Goodland to make their home.

From 1947 through 1980, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad as an agent. Later, he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1985.  After retirement, he traveled and visited friends and family.  His hobbies included reading, square dancing, photography and going for walks.  He was a wonderful father to his two children.

Preceding him in death were his wife Marjorie Paulson, who died in 1991, after forty-eight years of marriage; son Donald Paulson; two brothers Lars and Leslie; and one sister Pearl Musgrove.

Surviving family includes his daughter Margaret Mazanec of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter Jacqualine Medford of Greeley, Colorado; great-grandson Nico Alvarado of Greeley, Colorado; brother John R. Paulson and his wife Susie of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters-in-law Viola Paulson of Stockton, Kansas; Melvia Paulson of Selden, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be on Thursday, February 27, at 10:00 AM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Clifford’s nephew John Lars Paulson officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Goodland Cemetery.

Memorials may be designated to Genesis, and may be left at or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS  67735-1555.
