Carol Dee Thompson

Carol Dee Thompson passed away June 17, 2023, at Goodland Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.  

Carol was born February 7, 1944, in Pratt, KS to Bud and Rosalie Alexander of Coats, KS.  She grew up on the family farm south of Coats and graduated from Coats High School.  In 1962 she married Bill Riegel, also of Coats, in Emporia, KS, and later divorced.  Carol and Bill had two daughters, Dee Ann and Sheri.  She later married Mel Thompson in Omaha, NE.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Bud Alexander and Rosalie Jacobs.  Her surviving family includes her children Dee Ann (David) Dorn of Goodland, KS, Sheri (Eddie) Harper of Topeka, KS, 5 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister LeAnn (Dennis) Friedrichs of St. Francis, KS, and her brother Jeff (Sharon) Alexander of Mims, FL.

A private family graveside service will be held on July 15, 2023, at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS.  A reception will follow to honor, share memories, and celebrate Carol's life at 11:00 AM MT at Dorn Seeds, 6415 Rd 22, Goodland, KS 67735.
