Carol Gattshall

March 18, 1932 — January 18, 2015

Longtime Sherman County resident Carol Maude (Johnson) Gattshall, 82, died Sunday January 18, 2015, at St Anthonys Lakewood Colorado.
She was born March 18, 1932, at home in rural Cheyenne County, the daughter of Gertrude Maude (Pettit) and Wilbur Ernest Johnson.  She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1950.  Carol married Wayne Alfred Gattshall on November 4, 1951 in St. Francis Kansas.  After retiring from bookkeeping for the Goodland Daily News, she took up gardening and selling of produce and homemade jellies at the Farmers Market, something she dearly loved, earning a Master Gardener.  She was bell ringer for the Salvation Army and a gift wrapper for the Thrift Store Children’s Christmas Shopping.  In her later years she became a certified drug screen collector and worked for A&D Drug Screen Collection until her death.
Preceding her in death was her husband Wayne Gattshall, a daughter Leta Cates, her parents and sister Marvel Pelphrey.
Surviving family members include six children David Gattshall of Thornton Colorado; Leland Gattshall of Wichita Kansas; Karen Hooker and her husband Scott of Kanorado; Ruth Gattshall of Wichita; John Gattshall and April Roemig of Kansas City; Alvin Gattshall and wife Crystal of Brazoria, Texas; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters Millie Hawkins, Margie Peter and husband Keith, and Shirley Wieck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, January 22, at 10:00 AM MT, at Harvest Evangelical Free Church Goodland, with Pastor Brian Fugleberg officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery.
Friends may share their respects at Koons Chapel on Wednesday, from 3:00 PM MT until 7:00 PM MT.
Memorials may be given to the Carol Gattshall Memorial, and may be left at Koons Funeral Home, 211 North Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
