Longtime Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Bertha G. Dobbs, 84, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas.
Bertha Grace Rauch was born May 12, 1929, at Ransom, Kansas, the daughter of Edith (Smith) and Neal Rauch. Her family moved to Sharon Springs when she was fifteen months old. She attended Broadway Elementary School in rural Wallace County, and then continued in grade school in Sharon Springs, and graduated from Wallace County Community High School in Sharon Springs with the class of 1947.
On August 5, 1947, she and Logan C. Dobbs were married and they made their home in Sharon Springs. To them were born Terry in 1949 and Tanya in 1953. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed her family and friends, as well as sewing, gardening, working with her flowers in her yard, and cooking.
Preceding her in death were her husband Logan C. Dobbs, who died May 7, 2013; her parents; and her brother Ernest Rauch.
Surviving family includes her son Terry Dobbs and his wife Helen of Goodland; her daughter Tanya Gill and her husband Douglas of Goodland; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister Frances Vancauwenbergh of Derby, Kansas.
The memorial service will be Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 PM MT, at the Sharon Springs Cemetery, with Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.
Memorials may be designated to the Citizens Medical Center Nursing Department, and may be mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main, Goodland, KS 67735-1555.
