Bernice Ray

Fort Collins, Colorado resident Bernice M. Ray, 91, passed away on December 17, 2013.

She was born September 29, 1922, in St. Francis, Kansas, the daughter of Maud and F.F. Bair.  She graduated from high school at St. Francis, Kansas, and furthered her education to become a cosmetologist.

Bernice and Carroll H. Ray were married in Denver, Colorado.  He passed away at the age of thirty-four, and she chose not to remarry.

As part of the Bair family, Bernice willingly joined the family in the farming business.  She was well-respected in the farming community, once being nominated for the “Big Farmer of the Year”.  She also was a beautician and owned a hair salon in Fort Collins.  She had a love for art, music, and especially enjoyed eating bing cherries.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, brothers, a sister, and great-grandson Noah.

Surviving family includes her son Doan H. Ray; her daughter Dian L. Meyer; grandchildren Tony Aguirre, Andrea Vasquez, and Marcie Ramirez; and many great-grandchildren.

The family is thankful for the professionalism and caring support given to Bernice by Poudre Valley Hospital Neurological Unit and Columbine Care Center West.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 22, from noon until 1:45 PM MT, at the Allnutt Drake Chapel in Fort Collins, Colorado, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM MT.

A graveside service will be Monday, December 23, at 2:00 PM MT, at the Goodland Cemetery, with Reverend Dustin Petz officiating.  Burial will be in the Goodland Cemetery.
