Allan A. Weiss was born on April 29, 1949 to Albert and Martha (Adolf) Weiss in Burlington Colorado. He was welcomed home by his brother Larry.
Allan lived on a farm north of Bethune all his life. He started farming and learning hard work at a very young age, while attending Bethune School. After graduating in 1967, he served his country in the Army National Guard for five years.
On November 25, 1972 Allan married Evelyn Koeller. They built their life together working alongside each other on the farm Allan grew up on. They were blessed with three wonderful children Alice, Bruce and Sarah. Allan loved farming and enjoyed raising livestock and growing crops. He was a hard worker and learned many skills and created solutions for things he needed. He was amazing at fixing anything. He taught his children hard work, respect, love and above all else to have a faith in God.
Allan loved God and his church. He grew up in Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He served on several church committees and as the church council president for several years. He later transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington and called Trinity his home until his passing.
While continuing to farm, Allan worked for Stratton Co-op. He started out in maintenance and quickly began hauling local deliveries. It didn’t take long and he became an over the road truck driver hauling fertilizer from Kansas, Texas and many other states. He loved driving “his” truck but after 13 years the long hours and thousands of miles became tiring, so he decided to retire. He continued to drive truck for several years hauling corn and wheat for a friend during harvest. Allan continued to farm until his recent decline in health. It was then he decided to rent the land.
Allan’s greatest joy was his family, especially his children and grandsons. He looked forward to every visit and joined them in whatever they were involved in or wanted to do. His grandsons loved spending time with him and being on the farm. Allan loved all animals. It didn’t matter if it was hogs and cattle or cats and dogs, they all meant something to him. In the winter months he enjoyed keeping himself busy spending time with Evelyn, doing word searches and watching old TV shows.
Allan was always concerned about others above himself. He was the first person to help in the time of others troubles and needs. He will be remembered for his kind personality and his contagious smile. If he was having a bad day people rarely knew it. He loved pocket angels and made sure that his family and friends were given one to take along with them in their life journey. It was his way of sharing Gods love and protection over those he loved.
Allan will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Janice. He leaves to mourn: his wife Evelyn, children Alice (Kevin) Magrino, Bruce (Nichol) Weiss and Sarah (Bryan) Erker, four grandsons Caleb Weiss, Bryson Weiss, Prestin Erker and Brayden Erker, brother Larry (Ruth) Weiss, nieces and nephews along with many other loved ones and friends.
We love you Allan, Dad and Grandpa. We miss you so much, but we look forward to seeing you again in heaven.
